## What does this tool do?

The Photo Collage Maker lets you arrange multiple photos into a grid layout and export the result as a single PNG file. It offers 7 layout templates, adjustable gap spacing, background color selection, and three output size presets.

## What inputs does it accept?

- **Photos** — multiple PNG, JPG, or WebP files
- **Layout template** — one of: 2x1, 1x2, 2x2, 3x1, 1+2, 2+1, 3x2
- **Gap** — spacing between grid cells: 0, 4, 8, or 16 pixels
- **Background color** — white or black (visible in gaps and empty slots)
- **Output size** — 1200x1200, 1920x1080, or 1080x1920 pixels

## What does it output?

- **Collage PNG** — a single rendered PNG file combining all photos in the chosen grid layout

## How does it work?

1. Photos are loaded as bitmap elements in the browser
2. An HTML Canvas is sized to the selected output dimensions
3. The canvas is filled with the chosen background color
4. Grid slot positions are computed based on the layout template and gap setting
5. Each photo is drawn into its slot using center-crop scaling (object-fit: cover behavior)
6. Empty slots (when fewer photos than slots) are filled with light gray
7. The canvas is exported as a PNG blob for preview and download

## Examples

**Example 1:**
- Input: 4 landscape photos, 2x2 layout, 8px gap, white background, 1200x1200
- Output: A square 1200x1200 PNG with 4 equal-sized cells separated by 8px white gaps

**Example 2:**
- Input: 3 portrait photos, 1+2 layout, 0px gap, black background, 1080x1920
- Output: A tall 1080x1920 PNG with 1 large left panel and 2 stacked right panels, no gaps
