Digital root of n:
If n = 0 → 0
If n % 9 = 0 → 9
Otherwise → n % 9
Example: digital_root(1990)
1990 % 9 = 1 ✓ (same as 1+9+9+0 = 19 → 1+9 = 10 → 1+0 = 1)This works because of a property of modular arithmetic: the sum of digits of any number is congruent to the number modulo 9. Pythagoras didn't know modular arithmetic, but he stumbled on the same pattern by hand.
