Frequently Asked Questions

The relationship is expressed as: speed equals distance divided by time, distance equals speed multiplied by time, and time equals distance divided by speed. Knowing any two of the three values allows you to calculate the third.

Multiply the speed in kilometers per hour by 1000 and then divide by 3600, or more simply divide by 3.6. For example, 90 km/h equals 25 m/s.

Divide the total distance by the total time taken, not by averaging the speeds. If you drive 100 km at 50 km/h and another 100 km at 100 km/h, the average speed is 200 km divided by 3 hours, which equals approximately 66.7 km/h.
